Singapore-based Cedars Digital joins Taiwan’s transportation authorities and city leaders to explore how AI and real-time carbon data can accelerate urban decarbonization

Cedars Digital COO Salmon Sim joined representatives from Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), Taipei City Government and New Taipei City Government, alongside sustainability, academic and technology leaders to discuss how AI, real-time data and intelligent infrastructure can support more efficient and lower-carbon cities.
From annual reporting to real-time carbon action
Speaking at the forum, Sim highlighted a shift in how cities and organizations can use carbon data. "Carbon data should be treated like a city’s vital signs," Sim said. "With AI continuously analyzing changes in emissions, cities and organizations can identify hotspots earlier and make more timely adjustments, rather than waiting for an annual carbon inventory before taking action."
This approach moves carbon management from retrospective reporting towards continuous monitoring, analysis and action, allowing decision-makers to respond more quickly as emissions patterns change. Sim also highlighted examples from Singapore, the United Kingdom and Denmark, demonstrating how digital technologies and data-driven approaches can support decarbonization across transportation, energy and buildings.
Connecting carbon intelligence with smart mobility
The forum also explored how carbon intelligence can connect with smart mobility and urban infrastructure. LEOTEK shared real-world applications of AI-enabled smart mobility in Taiwan, illustrating how intelligent infrastructure and mobility data can support safer and more efficient urban operations.
The discussions highlighted a broader opportunity to connect carbon, mobility and operational data, enabling sustainability insights to become part of everyday urban decision-making.
