Chinese Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated, “791 Chinese nationals have been relocated from Iran to safe areas” during a Beijing press conference (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, official press briefing).

He added, “More than 1,000 other people are in the process of relocating and withdrawing” as embassies in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan help at border points .

Chinese embassies urge citizens in Israel and Iran to evacuate promptly

Guo said consulates in Iran and Israel issued urgent advisories urging nationals to leave host countries immediately.

He confirmed some Chinese citizens have safely left Israel via land crossings, though numbers were unspecified.

Beijing decries further escalation and calls for responsible crisis management globally

Guo remarked China firmly stands against moves that violate UN Charter and sovereignty.

He urged influential nations to act impartially, “play a constructive role to reduce tensions and prevent wider conflict” .

Situational Context and Regional Implications

The evacuations follow a surge of Israeli airstrikes on Iran and Iran’s missile retaliation.

Anticipation of sea-mine deployment by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz has raised alarm among Western naval forces.

Advisories now caution vessels to avoid the strait due to jamming disruptions and increased maritime risks.

Diplomatic and Strategic Response

China’s evacuation underscores its broader push for de-escalation and cease-fire, supported by President Xi’s calls.

Beijing stresses protection of civilian safety abroad as a top priority and urges immediate diplomatic resolution.

Energy Market Repercussions

Shipping advisories and threats of mined waters have spurred oil-price fluctuations, though closures remain unlikely.

The Strait handles nearly 20 % of world’s daily oil; disruptions could raise prices to over $120 per barrel.***
